From the Mouths of Babes....

Our Sunday School lesson this morning was about how Mary annointed Jesus's feet and wiped them with her hair. The main point was that you can worship the Lord in many different ways, not just by attending a church service. She showed the Lord how much she loved him, by humbling herself before a group of men, who probably thought she was in the way. Judas was aggravated that the precious oil could have been sold and he could have pocketed the coin. As I was explaining the story to the 3rd graders, I asked them to suggest ways they could personally worship Jesus, and show Him how much they appreciated what He had done for them, and how much they loved him. One of the suggestions was to read their Bibles. Kendall, a very lovely child with a very mature understanding of the Bible's stories made a comment that stopped my heart. "You know, the Bible is like Jesus's feet, and our eyes are the oil." I was moved to tears.

"Suffer the little children unto Me, for such is the Kingdom of God."

I couldn't even come up with such a beautiful analogy. That's awesome.

Kennedy is a sweet girl and she obviously has a great teacher for Sun. School.

Kennedy is very sweet and smart, but it was Kendall who made the comment. :) All the third graders are very grounded in their knowledge of the Bible. It's obvious they have dedicated parents.

I have to also agree with sooz. I think that comment also speaks to having a great Sunday school teacher!

Wow. Profound is not even the word for that! When Eric and I taught the four and five year old's in Texarkana, one girl was so advanced like that--that she even asked her mom to read Revelations to her at bedtime. She knew about the four faces of the beast and everything. And she was FIVE!

Now that's just spooky Chelle. Revelations scares me and I'm almost 50 years old.

I know! This same girl knew that unleaved bread was bread that didn't have yeast in it. Those were her exact words! I always said that she could sit in our adult class and actually know exactly what we were talking about. She was saved at a very early age, too, and I teared up when I saw her walking down the aisle! She was one of "mine." We later let her give her testimony in class and it was so precious to hear a small child tell others how she knew it was time to be saved. She said that when she said her prayers at night, Jesus just kept popping in her mind, and she thought that might mean she needed to be saved. So, she told him that if he kept coming into her thoughts, that she would be saved. And, he did, so she was! That is a very basic example of the conviction of the holy spirit--all from the mouths of babes!
