I'm having trouble with another blog post. I've not done anything interesting, not finished any creative projects, not done much at all except just work on unfinished sewing projects.
We had a big snow/ice storm at Christmas and my son worked 16 hour days for two weeks trying to get folks' power back on.
My daughter-in-law is having some issues with pain and fatigue, but the OB tells her it's normal. I'm not sure about that so we'll see how it goes. We are waiting on fabric to arrive so we can begin sewing the nursery bedding. That's going to be fun.
LMW is growing up so fast it's amazing. The things he says and does are hilarious. I haven't taken any photos lately, and I'll have to remedy that soon.
Husband is counting down the days until his retirement in August.
I'm counting down the days to his retirement in August. ;) I'm looking forward to it, but can't really tell you why. I don't really know. Just glad he doesn't have to go back to that place any longer I guess.
I'm also counting down the days until our beach trip in June. Yeah, it's a ways off, but there have been very few days when I haven't thought about it.
As cold as it's been this winter, I noticed the jonquils and irises are trying to rise up. I even saw a bloom on an iris in Hot Springs the other day. It didn't register when I saw it, but later on I thought about it and was amazed.
Valentine's day is fast approaching, but we don't do it up big around here. The most exciting thing I'll do about that is to make a February BOM.

Finally Fall
No pictures for this post as it's a quick one.
Fall has finally arrived in Arkansas. The temps went from 85 on Friday to 45 today. (Saturday) What a wonderful change!
I've been doing fall cleaning, and rearranging of furniture. I can tell you my body feels it too. *grin*
I've been working on trying to finish up unfinished sewing projects, and throwing in a few new ones that are quick finishes.
Planning a yard sale on the first Saturday of November.
In the next couple of days I'll be trying to get files moved over from one computer to another. This one is about to blow a gasket and my cousin sent me his three year old computer that is top of the line. He's so good to me.
The poor Arkansas Razorbacks finally won a game! Woo Pig Soooiee!
Deer season is closing in and the husband is counting down the days.
LMW is feeling his oats lately and a real handful, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
I have a new quilting buddy. She is an old friend who just started quilting and she is so excited it's contagious. If I wasn't already obsessed with it, I would be now! Yay Janice!!
My friends the Holderfields are getting along pretty well. D went back to work this week, while S is still confined to a bed. His sister is staying with him in the daytime. His hip is not healing properly and he will need more surgery. Very disheartening for him and them all, so if you think about it, please send up a little prayer for them.

Skipping Out
I haven't posted since July 1, and it seems I'm skipping out on my old friend BLines. I guess my mind just doesn't come up with post topics like it used to, all full of family and life issues.
The heat in Arkansas has finally abated some, we got a little rain, and we are breathing a little easier, even though we are still in a burn ban. This global warming thing is for the birds.
I've not done a whole lot of anything this summer except play with LMW. He's a full time job and as he matures it gets harder and harder to keep him occupied without wreaking havoc and mayhem. You can clearly see that below.
You have to laugh at his antics. Trying to curb them is not possible. The terrible twos have arrived with a vengeance. *trying to grin*
My son and daughter-in-law just closed on a new home and moved in this weekend. They are excited and overwhelmed. And SR and I are tickled pink they are so close now. They have settled in the Bryant, AR area and it's only a 45 minute drive from my house to theirs. Woo Hoo!! Here's a photo of their house.

On the sewing front, I've relaxed and begun some simple hand sewn quilt tops. I'm going to take my time and just enjoy the process. I have done some commissioned pieces for baby gifts, and that helps keep me going and making a little moolah. Emphasis on the word little.
I'm headed to the local quilt shop in a few, to scope out their wares and see if they actually have anything that catches my eye. They aren't very fully stocked, probably because of the size of our little town, but I'm a little tired of the same old thing that Walmart offers. I have another commissioned baby set and I need some inspiration!

Random
For lack of anything in depth to post about, I thought I'd just shoot some random things out there. It's better than letting weeks go by without a post, in my opinion.

Yesterday I visited with a distant relative I'd never met. We are connected through my mother's ancestry and we had a lot to talk about. A lot, as in three hours of discussion under a large Oak tree at the cemetery. No, to me cemeteries are not spooky...well unless you are there alone, on a moonless night, with all the strange noises in nature amplified, by yourself, in the dark, after having read a murder mystery or horror story. Then I would have to admit it is a little scary. Otherwise, I consider it a nice visit with my parents and grandparents.
Cousin and her husband were precious, and we enjoyed our time together, even if I did get a little crispy from the sun. We found we both had records and information we needed to exchange and we plan to do that soon. It was a little hard to find a copy machine in the cemetery, so we have to deal with that later.

My husband is an avid turkey hunter. He began a two week vacation yesterday and today he came home with a twenty pound gobbler. He will be much easier to live with the next two weeks, and will be better able to enjoy his time away from work. We called LMW to come over and inspect the harvest and we were happy to see he wasn't afraid of the creature.
I've been doing a few little sewing things, but not much in the way of larger projects. I need a little break from the big quilts and wanted to do something fun and less stressful. I will post photos of that in a few days on my other blog.

The weather in South Central Arkansas can't really make up its mind lately. Some days it wants to be summer, some others spring. I'll take it as long as no tornadoes are invited to the party.

I haven't been reading as many blogs or posting as often. I'm just too busy with LMW and other things. Not to mention there have been some deaths in my current and former church families and funerals have been attended. And I'm just plain tired.

I've lost two more pounds through Weight Watchers. For a couple of weeks, I was a bit depressed due to lack of weight loss. And I was miserably hungry. There's no way to succeed feeling that way. I did some research and discovered that two of the medications I take not only cause weight gain, but increase appetite. Since ceasing those two meds, I am not hungry all the time any longer, and the weight has started coming off. It's slow, but that's ok.

I thought that my son and his wife moving closer to me would afford more opportunity to visit. They have been so busy, they have yet to have a free weekend to share. I hope we can remedy this soon. I can't tell they are any closer in distance yet.

The first week of May will bring two happy occasions. First is the second birthday of the most adorable little boy in the world. The second is my 35th wedding anniversary and SR and I plan a little three day trip to Heber Springs, Arkansas. No big fancy trip, but it should be relaxing and enjoyable. At our age, we'll take that and be happy about it! He and I are also looking forward to getting together with some good friends soon.
