We are finding it very difficult to accept that our Little Klaire is already a year old! She had a party to celebrate last Saturday and we all had a marvelous time.
I didn't get many good pictures because so many others were taking them, and we were just trying to enjoy the celebration.
She loved her truck!
And her cake.
LMW liked her truck too.
They decided to take turns driving each other around.
In a couple of weeks, we will celebrate LMW's FOURTH birthday. Gee Whiz my little babies are growing way too quickly!!

Spring....
I felt so guilty that my last post was about snow, that I thought I should at least say hello to you good folks. :)
Hello!!
Spring is here and with it came a bad case of Vertigo. I'm still battling it off and on, but it's tolerable and I'm not letting it keep me from doing what I want, which is yard work and furniture painting. Oh, and a little sewing thrown in as well.
My babies are growing too quickly!
This is what LMW calls "Squishyland" in Nanna's bedroom.
It's a hard life right?
Little Klaire always heads for the camera and tries to climb up the legs of whoever has it.
See her little boo boos? Walking is a hard lesson to learn.
Klaire will be a year old on the 18th and LMW will be 4 on May 4th. Where in the world does the time go! As my grandmother always said, "I need to put a brickbat on their heads so they won't grow any more!"

Got Milk?
This time of year, every time the weather man mentions the word snow (or ice) the whole state begins to panic and make a bread and milk run to Walmart. When I lived in the north, people barely noticed the snow. Here, they freak out at the mention of it. It's so hilarious.
My husband was getting things together last night, in case it really did happen, and LMW grabbed one of the flashlights to play with. He insisted on getting inside my closet and closing the door.
Before I knew what was happening, all my shoes were scattered and the shelves taken apart and re-positioned.
I sat on the floor, with the doors closed and watched as he continued to move things around to suit him. He repeatedly mentioned, "Getting comfterbul", but I don't see how he could be in this mess. The child is definitely entertaining!
As for the snow and ice apocalypse....well, it seems to have arrived north of me. I'm still ok for the time being. As a facebook friend mentioned, in my mind's eye, I can see people sitting around their fireplace with a glass of milk and a slice of bread, totally content. Got milk?

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da....
Life goes on bra.... La La how the life goes on. Anyone remember that Beatles song?? That's what I thought of when I realized I haven't posted here in a month. Life just goes on and on and gets in the way of sitting down to type something out. It's much easier to just post what I'm doing on The Seam Rippers. Let's see....
I have some of the items on my to-do list marked off.
Cute clothes for Klaire, a few shirts for LMW, paintings done.
(These can be seen on the other blog)
Class reunion organized and implemented. We won't mention what year....
Grandkids are growing too fast!
Having fun in the cool crisp fall air with chalk.
Beginning to use Santa as a behavioral tool. (wink)
Deer season approaching and the men in my family being totally distracted.
Family gatherings to be planned.
Fall parties and friendly visits to look forward to.
The folks in Washington are playing nice for the time being, so my daughter was able to go back to work. Yee Haw!!
God is good. Life is good.

The Final Countdown!
Well folks, next week is my husband's last at work. He is RETIRING!! Woo Hoo. We can hardly wait. For 30+ years he has worked at the railroad in a neighboring city and had a 60 mile round trip drive five days a week. Everyone keeps asking him what he's going to do with all his free time and he is insistent that he is going to ENJOY doing NOTHING!! And if I know my husband....and I do of course....I believe that! He's the most laid back, restful, piddling kinda guy I've ever known. Give him his remote and recliner and he's a happy camper.
He does plan to spend time taking LMW to the deer camp and other places that guys go.
And he says WE will be doing some traveling. As a matter of fact, the week after his retirement we are running up to Branson for a couple of days. We love to browse flea markets and antique stores and just drive through the winding highways of North Arkansas.
We will be able to run up and see our Little Klaire more often too.
In other news, I'm redoing my craft/sewing room and am excited about it all. It's going to take a little time due to the cost, but when it's finished, I think I'll have a wonderful set up. I can't wait!!! Life is GOOD!!

LMW decided his "Tow Mater" needed a little body work. Future mechanic in the making???

Summertime And The Living Is Easy....?
Actually, not so much.
LMW had his tonsils out June 28th. Poor baby is still in a lot of pain. Now this child has a pretty high tolerance for pain, but when he spends several hours crying because he hurts, you know it's bad. I'm praying that yesterday was the worst and it will be downhill from here.
I've been so busy, I haven't had a chance to post the rest of my vacation pictures.
This is my yard.
A mole we can't seem to catch.
Even when we see him digging up and we grab the shovel. How he moves from that one spot so quickly is beyond me. Finally had to resort to a trap. I'll let you know how that works.
It's not all bad though.
LMW and my great nephew made friends with my sister's horse. Too hot and too many horseflies to actually try to ride him.
I'm on week two of my new walking regime. Clothes aren't feeling quite so tight.
I finally finished a major sewing project and I'm very relieved about that!
This little lady is growing like a weed! Just look at that face!

What I Did On Summer Vacation #1
I almost titled this post, "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" but thought that was just a little harsh and more negative than I really wanted it to be. I did want to share with everyone a little about our beach trip. Some was good, some was bad and some was a little ugly, but that's how it goes for most folks I imagine.
We drove from Sheridan, Arkansas to Gulf Shores, Alabama with a three year old in the car. Now, you might imagine that was probably bad, but LMW was pretty well behaved, even when we were stuck in traffic several times due to construction and auto accidents. We lost about two hours in those standstills and he was a good boy for the most part. It wound up taking us 12 hours to actually reach our condo.
We were all in awe of the condo and but couldn't really get out on the beach until Monday due to the weather.
He's such a cheeser. We decided to do a little early shopping and wound up visiting with pirates.
View from the balcony. You can see the clouds moving in and it rained all day Sunday. With the waves being pretty chopping and harsh. Not a place for a little boy.
It began to slack off about supper time so we left to go eat. Here I'll say that the food we ate all week was good, but nothing to rave about. I kept expecting to get one of those meals where you roll your eyes and sigh because it's so tasty. Didn't happen.
It was still overcast Monday, but not raining so we decided to introduce the little one to the sand and waves.

Since it wasn't hot, he liked it just fine but he really preferred the pool.

The next day was perfect. Unfortunately, he wasn't a big fan of the heat, or the dry sand in his shoes. Not into building castles or even fighting the waves but he stuck it out long enough for us to get a few pictures. Back to the pool he wanted to go.

Here are shots at the Gulf State Park pier.
That's the first installment. More to come.

Growing Up Quickly!
Both of my grandbabies are growing like weeds. LMW spent the night with us Friday night and he seemed to sleep pretty well. Nanna? Not so much. He slept in bed with me and kept me awake kicking, flopping around, snoring and using his razor sharp toenails to dig furrows into my legs. But you know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
He grabbed my camera the other day and took a self portrait.
I guess this up close and personal, you can see the chocolate around his mouth. Makes him all the sweeter. He surprised me, and took my picture as well.
Oooh, that's just a bit scary....And he laughed pretty hard at it when I brought it up on the computer screen for him.
The other night we kept our Princess Klaire for a while. Her Mommy needed to buy groceries and she decided she wanted to stay home and sleep. So...PHOTO OP!!
I sure wish I could keep them little. But I guess every grandparent says that!
I tried to upload a video of her cooing and grinning at us, but blogger won't cooperate. :(
Enjoy your Sabbath!!

This is what we saw when we arrived, but that didn't last long. Heh heh...we are so mean.
She wanted to pull up.
So, Grandpa pulled her up.
And every time we took her to her room to change her diaper, this is the face we saw. She apparently likes her bedroom. I sure wish I could keep them little. But I guess every grandparent says that!

This and That
We wait impatiently for our little Klaire to arrive. Her mommy is more than ready, but the due date is not till April 13. Hopefully, she will arrive sooner than that.
LMW and I have been going here there and yonder trying to have a good time. He is at the stage where he gets bored easily so Nanna has her work cut out for her trying to keep him from getting out of control. Ha!
He's become very brave and can even climb up the tall tall slide all by himself...which I admit scares me a bit.
He has adjusted to going to sleep without his "poppie" (pacifier) and never asks for his "met mets" (blankies) while at my house. Unfortunately, he never naps at my house now either. I sure miss that quiet time but his Uncle J never took a nap either. I was a lot younger then and could deal with it better. Ha!!
I have just gotten back to sewing my ministry quilts after the holidays and preparing for Baby Klaire. It feels good.
The weather is hot then cold then hot then cold, as always in the Arkansas Springtime.
We are looking forward to SR's retirement in August. Actually counting the days now. We are so ready for this and he's tired and ready to come home. We plan to do a little traveling, but nothing major. Mostly just to places of interest in Arkansas, maybe Branson and the beach on occasion. I'm really looking forward to that!!
My friend Hillbilly Tonya is planning a quilting retreat this fall in Branson. I sure hope that happens because I really want to go. And I REALLY want to set eyes on her in live person. We've only corresponded online.
There you have what is going on in my world at present. Life is good. We are blessed.
