Ok, the dresser/desk is just about to defeat me. I've tried to clean it up enough to paint without using a stripper. I used sand paper, mineral spirits and a scraper, and problem is, it's still gunky. So, stripper it is. Ugh.
You know what I wish I could do.... I wish I could buy second hand furniture and redo it. (Like I've seen so many of you doing.) Even though this particular piece has been the bane of my existence, if I had just started out right in the first place, I wouldn't be having a problem. But, I have no good place to work on furniture items. I don't have a spare room, no storage shed, and our garage is for our vehicles. Period. That's my firm stand on that matter. And that leaves me no place to work on anything big. So, I guess that wish will not be granted by the craft fairy. Bummer.
So, I will do what I can do. And be happy about it. Sew, quilt, paint, garden....those are blessings from above and I am not nearly thankful enough for them. So, I am thanking God right now. In the presense of others.
How'm I doing in May For Me?
I finished redoing a trash bin.
I finished a pillow.
I'm working on finishing up my first ministry item.
I did something fun in my yard.
I'm still reading Same Kind of Different As Me. I hope to finish it by the end of the month. I don't have a lot of time for reading these days.
I've been spending a little more time in prayer and less on the computer. Not enough, but it's a start.
So, maybe I'm not a total failure in the May for Me department. I know there is no MFM police, but I hold myself to a pretty high standard when I commit to something.

I think you are doing great! May for Me is for you to just enjoy... don't work at it! Smell the roses, your garden, your fabric, and whatever else you enjoy! May for me one day at as time!
Stripper, huh? Good luck with that. I'm sure it will be gorgeous when you're all done!
My garage is now a playroom. I have nowhere to redo furniture either. For me, it's outside , except there was that one time I repainted furniture in the kitchen.
You're doing great with May for Me. Every second spent doing something yo enjoy counts!
Sounds like you have been very ambitious! Same Kind of Different As Me is a wonderful book. And stripping paint is a pain in the neck. I've done it seriously one time and don't know that I'll do it again. Thankfully, my daughter has kept the much worked on piece--a china cabinet!
Enjoy it all! You're very blessed! A shed sounds like a good future present! *wink*wink*
I've never worked with furniture at all. I follow a super blog where she re-purposes all kinds of furniture and I went through a time where I wanted to do some of that...even gathered some stuff...but I have no time to tackle that. Her blog is Re-purposed Life, her name is Gail, tell her Hillbilly sent you if you stop by.
Otherwise you are doing great on May for Me. I am behind in my Bible study but I've done some which is more than I can say for the last few months. I've also quilted too (not just pieced) which is also more than I can say for the last few months. So, a little is better than none!
Glad to see you have taken time to 'breath' and not stress the GOAL thing. This is not about goals, but seeing what we do is an enjoyment, know matter how small the little pleasure.
