What I Did On Summer Vacation #1

I almost titled this post, "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" but thought that was just a little harsh and more negative than I really wanted it to be. I did want to share with everyone a little about our beach trip. Some was good, some was bad and some was a little ugly, but that's how it goes for most folks I imagine.

We drove from Sheridan, Arkansas to Gulf Shores, Alabama with a three year old in the car. Now, you might imagine that was probably bad, but LMW was pretty well behaved, even when we were stuck in traffic several times due to construction and auto accidents. We lost about two hours in those standstills and he was a good boy for the most part. It wound up taking us 12 hours to actually reach our condo.

We were all in awe of the condo and but couldn't really get out on the beach until Monday due to the weather.
He's such a cheeser. We decided to do a little early shopping and wound up visiting with pirates.

View from the balcony. You can see the clouds moving in and it rained all day Sunday. With the waves being pretty chopping and harsh. Not a place for a little boy.

It began to slack off about supper time so we left to go eat. Here I'll say that the food we ate all week was good, but nothing to rave about. I kept expecting to get one of those meals where you roll your eyes and sigh because it's so tasty. Didn't happen.
It was still overcast Monday, but not raining so we decided to introduce the little one to the sand and waves.

Since it wasn't hot, he liked it just fine but he really preferred the pool.

The next day was perfect. Unfortunately, he wasn't a big fan of the heat, or the dry sand in his shoes. Not into building castles or even fighting the waves but he stuck it out long enough for us to get a few pictures. Back to the pool he wanted to go.

Here are shots at the Gulf State Park pier.

That's the first installment. More to come.

Growing Up Quickly!

Both of my grandbabies are growing like weeds. LMW spent the night with us Friday night and he seemed to sleep pretty well. Nanna? Not so much. He slept in bed with me and kept me awake kicking, flopping around, snoring and using his razor sharp toenails to dig furrows into my legs. But you know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

He grabbed my camera the other day and took a self portrait.
I guess this up close and personal, you can see the chocolate around his mouth. Makes him all the sweeter. He surprised me, and took my picture as well.
Oooh, that's just a bit scary....And he laughed pretty hard at it when I brought it up on the computer screen for him.

The other night we kept our Princess Klaire for a while. Her Mommy needed to buy groceries and she decided she wanted to stay home and sleep. So...PHOTO OP!!
This is what we saw when we arrived, but that didn't last long. Heh heh...we are so mean.
She wanted to pull up.
So, Grandpa pulled her up.
Then she decided she was hungry. And she let us know real quick!
And every time we took her to her room to change her diaper, this is the face we saw. She apparently likes her bedroom.

I sure wish I could keep them little. But I guess every grandparent says that!
I tried to upload a video of her cooing and grinning at us, but blogger won't cooperate. :(

Enjoy your Sabbath!!
